With the advent of new coil (and a whole new set of gear we'll be dying to have), we need to set some ground rules on lotting.
Previously, the rules stated that after you received one piece of loot for the "week" of raiding, you would no longer have priority to "Need" if you were lotting on armor that could be worn by a second teammate in your class (for example tank gear). That is, if fending ring dropped and was won by tank 1, tank 2 would have "Need" priority for the rest of the week on any tank gear that dropped until s/he also received a piece (then both tanks could "Need").
To throw some confusion into the mix, now that we all have several jobs leveled to 50, there is another element of "greeding" gear. While it's true that player A may have 5 jobs at Lv50, they may only play 2 or 3 of those jobs or maybe only 2 jobs would be functional in coil. So… would it be beneficial to declare an "alt" job that you would have greeding priority on? (a declared "main" will always be the job you are taking to coil–the goal is to make the team stronger and winning easier so as to get it on farm).
Finally, it may be helpful to rank the loot according to BiS and determine lotting priority in that respect. There is no doubt in my mind that everyone currently on the team would have the gear go to the appropriate job (Nall's generosity towards my WHM BiS comes to mind) but if we want to make this an official policy, it would be helpful if anyone subbed for absent members, etc. Of course we won't know until the loot lists come out for sure, but it's something to keep in mind.
Let's hash this out :) My thoughts–I like the old rules of spreading the loot amongst the team within the week (after you receive one piece on "need" the other player in your class will have priority). I like the idea of declaring an "alt" and I like a formal policy of BiS to assist if we have subbers.
My ideas for lot priority: 1) Main job BiS if they haven't received gear that week to "Need" 2) Main job BiS to "Need" if the other player in that class passes 3) "Greed" for declared alt job 4) "Greed" for job currently Lv50 5) "Greed" because no one else wants
I have no problem doing anything that was mentioned above.
However, I feel that BiS is extremely overrated as it takes into account only secondary stats (which are extremely outweighed by primary). I think the priority would be to put iLvl difference ahead of BiS.
Example, say I have an iLvl 100 chest piece and jim is at i90, but the piece is BiS for me. It would benefit more, for the time being, if jim gets that piece instead of me.
But I will do whatever the group decides is the best course of action.
I agree with Naked about BiS. It's more a relative term to some classes. For example, as a BLM, I could do a BiS build for Spell Speed or for Crit. For some armor/accessory slots, I have two "BiS" pieces. Which should I consider as best, if in the end I want both? Add the need to cap accuracy in the mix, which only counts for Coil (as far as well know anyway) and that muddies the waters more.
Personally, I think for Coil, if it's a piece you can use on your class and you don't have it yet, you should be able to Need on it regardless of what BiS is. To me, this makes it more clear and would prevent and misunderstanding if different people consider different things as BiS.
For the rest of everything you wrote Chi, I agree with you.
Love the idea of a Main and an Alt class. Don't like making BiS lists that we have to follow.
Keeping track of Current BiS lists in a thread would be helpful though, so people can think about what they want to lot or buy with tomes or w/e ahead of time. Thoguh this may all be moot, since tome gear and allagan will be different ilvls this time.
Jim do you remember what the said exactly about the difference in tome gear and allagan? Cause all I remember is they said there would be a reason to get allagan over tome. I can't remember any specifics.
It's been confirmed that allagan armor drops will be higher iLvl than the new tomes. RNGesus feeds on our tears
Edit: According to the item list it looks like there are two sets of ilvl 110 armor. So we might have a similar scenario of itemization as we previously did
